Cleanup activity is a regulatory required activity to demonstrate care for the environment and ensure compliance to international best practices and regulatory standards.
The spills at 6″ Yokri Manifold 1-Cluster 95 Bulkline with incident number 2022-_606133 occurred on 31st August 2022. Joint Investigation Visit (JIV) was done on 06th September 2022 with total impacted area of 0.04 hectare. The cause of spill was Third Party Interference (Line Theft) and estimated volume of spill was 3 barrels of which 0.2 barrel was recovered. The difference of 2.8 barrels was not recovered from spills due to evaporation and infiltration processes associated with spilled hydrocarbon.
In compliance with SPDC standards/procedures and extant regulations and international standards for sustainable development, there is need to carryout cleanup of impacted environment. SAFIC TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED was engaged by SPDC as the contractor to carry out clean-up activities at 6″ Yokri Manifold 1-Cluster 95 Bulkline (Yokri) in Burutu L.G.A of Delta State.
Prior to site mobilization, PTW was duly signed by authorized signatories and revalidation done accordingly by SPDC’s site representatives and contractor Permit Holder.
During mobilization, all Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards were given top priority i.e., documentation, site HSE induction for workers, equipment and tools integrity checked, caution signs, medical emergency response etc. were verified.
SAFIC mobilized tools, equipment, and personnel to site at 6″ Yokri Manifold 1-Cluster 95 Bulkline in Burutu L.G.A of Delta State. Site induction, toolbox meeting, health fitness checks were carried out and all COVID-19 protocols were observed. The process continued all through the duration of the project.
